What’s in my Travel Makeup Bag!? Bases Edit (part two)

Hello world!

So, this is the second part of my bases edit (i.e. primer, foundation, powder, blush, bronzer, and contour)!  This is where I recommend certain makeup products and maybe a few tips to help zee makeup last longer because who doesn’t want long-lasting makeup!?  Well, I know I sometimes take my makeup off in a few hours, but I don’t want it slippin’ and slidin’ everywhere!  Here we go!

P.S. these are only recommendations!  Never feel like you have to go buy or use a product because someone says to get or use it!

Primer: I don’t always use a primer– silly me, I almost always forget *dohh*, but I love the Laura Mercier (I will abbreviate her beautiful name to LM) foundation primer.  I specifically use the Original formula, but if you have dry/dehydrated skin, I would recommend the Hydrating formula.  If you have oily skin, I would definitely recommend the Original formula (Note: get the original formula if you like more dewy/fresh or satin finishes) or the Oil-Free formula.  I sometimes use sunscreen as a primer because it’s like hitting a target with two stones– I refuse to say “killing birds…” because I’m sincerely against animal cruelty.  You guys know the phrase I’m talking about, right?  Anyway, the LM primer doesn’t have a silicone texture (refer to the Benefit Porefessional) and feels almost like a moisturizer.  For a drugstore option, I would definitely recommend the L’Oréal Lumi Magique Primer because it’s similar in texture, but almost half the price of the LM primer.  Another drugstore option would be a drugstore sunscreen of your choice!

Foundation: in the first part of this edit, I’ve already recommended the Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation (I use the shade N123) because it has a beautiful satin finish!  I’ve yet to find a drugstore option *sigh*.  For a more matte finish, I would recommend the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (I use the shade 2W2 Rattan).  This foundation is long-lasting as long as you apply very thin layers (use about half to a full pump) and use a beauty blender to sheer out.  A drugstore option would be the Revlon ColorStay Makeup Foundation (I use the shade 300 Golden Beige).  The Revlon foundation range also has two types of finishes for dry or oily skin– I use the one for oily skin.

All the foundation options I’ve stated have finicky reviews, so do a little research before purchasing!  Also, the options I’ve given all have a wide color range! Woooo!

Powder: I use a powder all over my face because I have oily skin, so I use the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder (I use the shade Medium).  This powder will set my foundation and give me an “airbrushed” appearance because it is finely milled and buttery soft (LUUUV THIS), but is about $50 USD.  A drugstore option would be the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder (I use the shade 53), but this beautiful powder is not sold in the US; however, I bought mine on Amazon for about $15-20 USD.  It is also finely milled and buttery soft *wins*.

Blush: I use every brand in every color whether it’s from the drugstore or high end, but for longevity, I use Tarte’s blushes.  This one is based on personal preference!

Bronzer: For a medium-toned gal, like myself, I use Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer (drugstore: Soap and Glory’s Solar Bronzer– also good for light/medium skin tones).  For those who can’t find a shade that suits them due to lack of variety, I would definitely recommend the Two Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzers.  Though, I can’t find a drugstore option for these… maybe The Body Shop Honey Bronzer?

Contour: I can’t help myself… here comes a holy grail product!  The Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder in the shade Medium.  Enough said for that option, but I can’t find a drugstore equivalent *sad, but cute puppy dog face*.  For those with darker complexions, I will keep on the look-out for you!  Unfortunately, I have to do a little more research before I can truly recommend a product for those of you with tan-dark complexions.  Nevertheless, I still love you guys, but give me a little more time ^__^ heh!

FINALLY, this post is complete!  Let me know if I’m forgetting anything or if you guys have recommendations for me to try!  I hope you guys are having a wonderful day, afternoon, pre-evening, night…wherever you are and I will speak to you all very soon! x

With lots of love,

Coohleen
